The Roadmap Through Uncertainty: A Guide to Building Workforce Resilience
Our workforce has experienced a mass trauma event defined by uncertainty that has left many crumbling under stress, anxiety, and mental health issues. Individuals, teams, and leaders are taxed with keeping up with a state of constant transition and it’s taking its toll in the way we perceive our purpose in today’s world of work. This is resulting in more fixed mindsets, making everyone averse to the concept of change.

How can you help others through this time, to come out stronger on the other side of all this? With the power of resilience. A resilient mind, in comparison to a fixed mind, is open to learning, adaptable to change, and agile in the face of stress.

Dr. Andrew Shatté will lead the audience in learning about their thinking styles and go-to emotions. Then Dr. Shatté will highlight the tools and techniques proven to better manage emotional reactions and deep-seated thinking styles so that they can more easily move from stress reactions to productive, rewarding action. Learn how to support across your organization, with years of proven data, psychology, and neuroscience.

Application on the Job:
  • Uncover your own, and your team's, go-to emotion and thinking traps to more readily return to a productive state of mind.
  • Discover how these specific thinking traps and emotions impact your organization and what you can do about it, regardless of work environment.
  • The roadmap forward and ways you can apply organizational resilience to move a workforce from reaction to action.

Case Study with H&R Block: VR Simulation for True Behavioral Change and Mindset Shift
A volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous (VUCA) workplace requires a distinct set of skills: non-hierarchical influence, the ability to rapidly align across functions, creativity for drawing insights across domains, and most of all, “empathy,” the linchpin leadership skill in the modern workplace. Empathy allows us to imagine the world from different perspectives, unite across functions, generations, regions. It is becoming a requirement for deep motivation and true influence in a world of diffused and often scattershot attention. With immersive VR simulation (available on both laptops and with headsets), you can combine live human interaction with artificial intelligence to practice empathy and other essential human skills at scale. Whether your goal is to drive productivity gains or achieve readiness-to-perform, simulation can cascade ROI across the entire value chain. Research from Chief Learning Officer magazine shows an average return of $4,000 for every $1100 spent developing such skills. In this session, we’ll show how H&R Block incorporated simulation into call center training to cut the numbers of dissatisfied customers in half, extract immediate cost-savings, and engage employees at the deepest level.

Operating in a post-COVID World: Achieving a Sustainable Reset
The human capital strategy for operating in a post-COVID world will look radically different from anything we have today. From managing the transition back to the workplace to operating in a new normal, it will need to place a significant premium on resilience, even at the cost of some of the efficiency we have pursued for so long. Building on a recent white paper he co-authored for the World Economic Forum (Workforce Principles for the Covid-19 Pandemic), Ravin will share research and a roadmap.

Skilled, Prepared, Confident: Using VR to Train the Frontline in Uncertain Times
In today’s rapidly evolving macroeconomic climate, it is more important than ever to have an engaged and well-prepared workforce. But as workers are forced to learn new procedures and technologies, as well as handle more difficult conversations, have you ever considered just how impactful current training methods are? With time at a premium, HR and learning leaders are looking to Virtual Reality to help them onboard and train faster without trading effectiveness for scale. With VR, day-long trainings can be reduced to 15-minute VR experiences, and learners retain more information long-term. Companies like Walmart, Verizon, and Fidelity are already seeing measurable impact in terms of confidence, retention, and performance. Join the session to discover how you can build skills and prepare people for difficult or even chaotic situations with VR-based training.
